On the Issues
Our infrastructure deserves immediate attention. Increased property taxes, crime, public safety, education, unemployment, engaging our diverse community, an accountable city government, traditional thinking and youth issues have all
increasingly become critical.
During the past 15 years, and as a direct result of the past six years, our city leadership, unfortunately, hasn't kept pace with the changing dynamics and demands of our city. Their unwillingness to readily confront the real challenges and issues
combined with being disconnected from the true realities of our diverse community has directly resulted in a poor infrastructure and has contributed immensely to the rise in crime, public feeling unsafe and the lack of businesses, fine dining, jobs
and opportunities within our community and city. Their traditional way of thinking has also directly and negatively impacted and stagnated our growth and development and economic stability.
Factual and True
Our property taxes are some of the highest in the state and we have none of the following;
We have no fine dining
We have no places to shop and purchase a suit, dress, shoes etc.
We have no 9-5 businesses to make people want to come here, shop etc.
No transportation
Out dated Library
No Movie Theatre, museums and or entertainment
We have no downtown and/or anything remotely similar to a downtown
We gave Target a 20 year tax abatement in exchange for 2 hotels, retail shopping and 100 new single family homes
to date Target has not contributed 1cent to our city
We have empty promises from our so-called leaders, to reach out to our youth and have no clue and/or know how
30% of our residents leave our city and spend their dollars elsewhere and we receive no taxes from their spending
Mayor Lampi and Mike Trepainer, Central District suggested that we should not have a 24 hour Fire Department Duty Crew to serve our residents
During a meeting, Mike Trepainer called for the vote, to demolish Huntington Pointe Apartments, and we the tax payers vote not too
to date nothing have been done to improve the area that could have waited to be improved and or developed
You rarely if at all, see any of them, unless it's an event organized by the city
Our City Council didn't take any action and/or deposition as a result of the Mayor's contribution to our already negative image
Our city leaders depend on petty fines to help run our city
Our city places to many restriction on small businesses
75% of our youth are not engaged in after school programs and 30% have never been or unaware
They are committed to serving their select group of supporters and not all stakeholders that elected them
They do not attend diverse events in the and around the city presented by various ethnic groups and organizations to proactively engage our diverse community
They are unwilling to discuss and confront the real issues
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
